'Shirebears Newfoundlands'
Shirebears Newfoundlands are a small show kennel that adhere to Kennel Club rules & guidelines. We are officially registered with the Kennel Club and "Shirebears" is our affix. Our affix is taken from living within a "Shire" up and down the Country. So wherever you live a Shirebear will feel right at home. We own all three standard colours of the Newfoundland; Black, Brown and Landseer.
We are also proud members of "The Newfoundland Club UK" and also members of their "Breeders For Life" scheme.
We now import all our stock or use imported lines to try and achieve high quality show lines that meet the high breed standard to the Newfoundland. By introducing fresh blood lines into the UK it keeps a nice balance of quality into the breed. We will only breed for "quality" never quantity, and only when we have a desire to expand our very close family, so puppies are only occasionally available.
All our puppies are fully endorsed for breeding and for export and will come with a contract of sale, good feeding information and grooming advice, along with a lifetime of help and support if needed. We make health paramount with our dogs and we firmly believe you get you what you put in. Our dogs are fully health tested with the documentation to prove the tests which are undertaken and our family are fed on a very high quality premium diet. Type and construction of our dogs are of the more traditional build with heavy well built frame, good strong bone, short muzzle, broad chest and rear, with a good coat and excellent movement. Temperament is vitally important for us too. We pride ourselves on the faultless temperament of our stock and this can only be passed onto our puppies.
Our family are groomed, bathed and show cut by ourselves. Our dogs are walked daily enjoying the surrounding parks and open countryside and live within our home which makes them family as well as a working breed. Our Newfs also swim on a regular basis as this for us is one of the best forms of exercise they can enjoy. They are all thoroughly spoilt as this is a Newfoundland's right . (Please check the official Newfoundlands rule book on life) They are kissed and loved on a daily basis - again this is a Newfoundland's right ! They steal our socks and towels, our hats and our gloves. Again, if it is not nailed down it belongs to the Newfie. This again is the Newfoundland's right to living in our society and we just have to accept their rules and abide by them. If their is slobber down the wall .... again it is our fault for not cleaning it up !
A Newfoundland is not for everyone but here at Shirebears HQ . . . . it is just a way of life.
