Shirebears Newfoundlands have been working with Sebastian since the start of his project and are helping as much as we can to get this amazing idea to full fruition. Here is what he has to say and you can click on the link above to be taken to his website. The process of collection is so easy, all you have to do is collect and email Sebastian and he does the rest. There is also a facebook and Instagram page you can follow too.

About Chiora ....
'Chiora is a project led by Sebastian Salvat, focused on transforming brushed-out dog undercoat into high-quality yarn for knitwear (hats, gloves, scarves,...) and giving new purpose to an often-overlooked waste material through a circular and sustainable system.
Rooted in a love for fashion and a genuine passion for dogs, Chiora explores how something so personal can become a meaningful and innovative textile. For heavily shedding breeds such as Newfoundlands, whose undercoat is often simply discarded, this creates an opportunity to repurpose the hair into something valuable and environmentally conscious.
At the same time, Chiora is designed to create a direct benefit for dog owners. By collecting and contributing brushed-out undercoat, owners will not only help reduce waste but will also receive financial compensation for participating once the project is fully established. The aim is to offer a simple and rewarding way to turn something normally thrown away into both a practical and meaningful contribution.
Giving back is also an important part of the vision. A percentage of the proceeds from each undercoat collection will be donated to charity, with owners also having the option to increase that amount if they would prefer their contribution to support charitable causes even further.'
The hope is for Chiora to grow into something much bigger, bringing together different dog breed communities, breeders, owners and enthusiasts through a shared purpose. By combining sustainability, craftsmanship and community impact, the project aims to create something meaningful that benefits both people and dogs alike.'
